Latios (Japanese: ラティオス Latios) is a dual-type Dragon/Psychic legendary Pokémon.
He is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon.
He is a member of the eon duo of Hoenn along with Latias.
Latios has mostly the same body shape as Latias, which is highly aerodynamic and shaped like a jet-airplane. However, he has a larger build and is heavier than his counterpart. His lower body is blue instead of red and features the same triangle-shaped marking that Latias has, only red. The rest of Latios’s body is gray instead of white. Latios has flatter ears and narrower eyes than Latias. The gray spot in the middle of Latios’s blue face is shaped like a tear-drop. Latios also has ridge-shaped features on his rear, which may either be rudimentary feet or tails or some sort, which differs in shape to Latias’s. Like Latias, Latios’s forelimbs can be tucked into his body in order to reduce air-resistance when in flight, increasing his aerodynamic properties.
Latios are the male of the species, with the female being Latias. Latios are much larger than Latias. Latios’ physical characteristics are mainly blue while Latias are mainly red.
Latios is able to fold in his arms and fly at the speed of a jet. He can make foes see images he has seen or what he imagines in his head. He can understand human speech. Even if he is hiding, Latios can detect the locations and emotions of others using telepathy. Like his sister Latias, Latios can enfold his body with a glass-like down to refract light which can render him invisible or alter his appearance (an exclusive type of Transformation).
In the movie Pokémon Heroes and manga Pokémon Adventures Latias and Latios also had the ability “Sight Sharing” which allowed Latias and people around her to see exactly what Latios was seeing. Oakley also mentioned that he can shape-shift like Latias, although he was never seen doing so during the course of the movie, apart from the deleted storybook scene that was present only in the Japanese version of the movie. Latios was seen disguised as a boy and Latias as a girl.
Latios is the only known Pokémon that learns Luster Purge.
Latios has a very protective nature, especially towards his relative, Latias. He has a docile temperament and dislikes fighting. He will open his heart if he finds a Trainer with a compassionate spirit.
Much like Latias, it is mostly unknown where they inhabit. However, they tend to prefer areas that are secluded and have a body of fresh water.
Latios made his debut appearance in Pokémon Heroes. Annie and Oakley captured Latios and used him to power the Defense Mechanism of Alto Mare along with the stolen Soul Dew. Latios ended up sacrificing himself to save Alto Mare from an enormous tidal wave.
A Latios also appeared in Pikachu’s Ocean Adventure where, along with Latias, he used his powers to help Pikachu, Meowth and the other Pokémon search for the legendary “Wailord’s Tear” beneath the ocean.
A Latios owned by Tobias was used in The Semi-Final Frontier! in the semi-finals of the Lily of the Valley Conference.
Latios made a brief cameo along with Latias at the beginning of Jirachi: Wish Maker and The Rise of Darkrai.
Latios made an appearance in Pokémon Ranger: Guardians Signs (Part 1) where the Pokemon List Pokémon Pinchers were after him.
Latios, along with Latias, was befriended by Emerald, and took the young Trainer to the Battle Frontier. He later helped Todd Snap watch the events going on on top of the Battle Pyramid, as well as verify the true identity of Guile Hideout. After the villain’s defeat, he goes back to the Southern Island with Latias, having accomplished their mission.
After Latios appears from his Poké Ball, he will fly Games For Free off the stage. He and Latias will then alternately zoom onto the stage with Steel Wing, damaging any opponent that collides with them. He may also cause movement of items as well.
Latios appears with his counterpart, Latias.
“Eon Pokémon. There are only female Latias and only male Latios. If they sense the presence of a human or an enemy, they will generally use the light-bending trait of their down coats to make themselves invisible. They use telepathy to speak with companions. They travel in herds, but even so, are rarely seen. They’re a combination of Dragon- and Psychic-types.”
In Pokémon Emerald, the roaming Pokémon is chosen in a sequence immediately after the credits where, after hearing a television report, the player is asked the color of the Pokémon in it. If blue is selected Latios roams Hoenn and Latias is found at the island. If red is selected, Latios is found at the island and Latias roams Hoenn.
Latios appears to be a cross between a jet plane and a dragon. He and Latias may also draw inspiration from the philosophy of yin and yang. They may also be based upon the aeons in Gnosticism, being that certain aeons are immaterial beings of concepts existing in pairs of males and females emanated from God and one another; also, their species is “Eon.” Latias and Latios are also based on birds, and due to Latias’s shared origin with Blaziken, they could be based on Junglefowl.
Latios may derive from lateo (Latin for to lie hidden). Os as a suffix Pokemon Store may have been added to make it sound more masculine, opposite the more feminine-sounding as in Latias.
Whirlpool (Japanese: うずしお Whirl Tide) is a damage-dealing Water-type move introduced in Generation II. It was the first HM move to lose its HM status, and was later followed by Flash, Dive, Rock Smash, and then Rock Climb. In HeartGold and SoulSilver, it regained its HM status (though as HM05 rather than HM06), only to lose it once again with the introduction of Generation V.
Whirlpool inflicts 1/16 of the target’s maximum HP as damage for two to five turns upon use, in addition to the damage dealt when it is used. The quote “<Pokémon> was trapped!” will appear. It also traps the target, preventing switching and escape. If a trapped Pokémon uses Rapid Spin, it will be freed.

The effects of Whirlpool are the same as in Generation II, but if a wild Pokémon uses Whirlpool on the player’s Pokémon, the player may escape if the affected Pokémon has Run Away or is holding a Smoke Ball. However, these do not allow the player to switch the Pokémon out. The text also changes to “<Pokémon> was trapped in the vortex!”.
In Generation IV, if the user of Whirlpool is holding a Grip Claw, the duration will always be 5 turns. Also, if an affected Pokémon is holding a Shed Shell, it can switch out.
Returned to HM status in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, Whirlpool allows the user to cross whirlpools on the field, instead of clearing them away as it did in Generation II. The reason for this is unknown, but presumably, it could be to differentiate it from Rock Smash in terms of field effects.
Whirlpool’s power and accuracy were increased to 35 and 85 respectively, and now lasts for four to five turns. In addition, if the user of Whirlpool is holding a Binding Band, it inflicts 1/8 of the target’s maximum HP instead of 1/16 when the target is trapped.
Whirlpool has a 10% chance of inflicting the Constriction Dressing Up Games status condition on an opponent. The damage done by Whirlpool is doubled if the target is under the Diving status condition.
Sick Daze (Japanese: タケシたおれる！あぶないキャンプ！！ Takeshi Collapses! A Dangerous Camp!!) is the 193rd episode of the Pokémon anime. It was first broadcast in Japan on April 12, 2001 and in the United States on March 9, 2002.
On their way to Olivine City, the gang decides to stop at a lakeside campsite for a break. Ash finishes washing up and is ready for breakfast. Brock doesn’t respond and Misty asks if he’s okay. When Ash touches him, he falls over. Ash apologizes thinking that he fell over because of his comment about the oatmeal. Misty feels his forehead and discovers that he has a terrible fever.
Ash and Misty take him inside the cabin and get him into bed. All of the Pokémon are watching through the windows and door of the cabin to see what’s happening. Ash says that Brock’s fever was caused by exhaustion and that he should rest for the day. Misty agrees. All of a sudden Brock wakes up. He tries to get out where can i find monstermmorpg monster Frerepz of bed claiming that there was a lot of work to be done. As soon as he stands up he is struck with dizziness and nearly collapses until Ash catches him. Ash and Misty convince him that he should rest for the day. Brock agrees and tells them to use the notes he made on doing chores.
Later while Ash and Misty were deciding how to do the chores for the day, they are approached by Brock’s Geodude and Onix who are looking particular eager for something. Misty realizes that this day is the day that Brock usually polishes them. Ash takes on the heavy task of polishing Onix while Misty starts to polish Geodude. While Misty is reading the instructions on how to polish Rock-type Pokémon, Ash calls for his Totodile. He then commands it to use Water Gun to get the job done faster. Onix then struggles around frantically trying to dodge the Water Gun attacks. Misty yells at him and reminds him that Rock Pokémon hate water. Ash tells Totodile to stop and then he and Misty are knocked over with Onix’s tail.
Meanwhile, Brock is having a dream that he’s in a beautiful meadow with three dancing Bellossom. All of a sudden, his name is being called by three beautiful women. He attempts to meet them but is then struck by a meteor. He soon snaps out of his sleep and sees Pineco on his chest and Golbat at his side. Brock thanks them for watching him and then hears Ash and Misty arguing. He decides to go help them but Golbat hits him with a light Supersonic attack and he falls back down in his bed. He realizes that his Pokémon are trying to get him to rest. He is touched by this and decides to rest for their sake.
A while later, Ash decides to go find something to have for lunch. He takes Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile with him into the forest. They soon come across some apple trees but they don’t see any apples. Not far away, Team Rocket used a vacuum to strip the trees of their apples and had a plan to sell them. Ash sees them and confronts them about it and they do their motto. They then use the same vacuum to catch Pikachu. A battle then ensues. Jessie sends out Arbok while James sends out Victreebel, which turns and bites him. Jessie tells Arbok to use Poison Sting as Ash tells Totodile to counter using Water Gun. He then tells Cyndaquil to use Flamethrower which hits Team Rocket causing Pikachu to be released from the case. Ash then commands Pikachu to use Thunderbolt and sends Team Rocket blasting off. Afterwards, Ash decides to help himself to the apples they picked.
Back at the campsite, Brock is having yet another dream. This time he’s in a clear sky with a few Butterfree. He is then called over by the same three girls from his first dream. As he’s running to them, he falls through the clouds. Ash and Misty enter the room to see Brock fall out of bed. Ash and Misty wonder about his strange behavior as he gets back into bed. Ash hands over a plate of cut up apples for Brock to eat. He eats a slice whole and starts to choke on it. Golbat pats his back with its wing to help it go down. Misty explains that Brock must be getting better because his appetite has returned. Still, they recommend that he sleep for the rest of the day. Brock then says he’ll try to run faster to catch the girls in his dream.
Dinner time is approaching fast and Misty decides to take on the task. She tries to follow Brock’s recipe but realizes she put in salt instead of sugar into the pot. Togepi brings her a bag of sugar. But then she pours in too much and looks for the salt. Psyduck brings it to her and again she pours too much in so she adds more sugar. Feeling that the recipe is boring, she decides to add some of her own ingredients such as ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, soy sauce, cinnamon, and Worcestershire sauce among many other things. Later, Misty serves the concoction to Ash and Pikachu, who aren’t very enthusiastic to eat it. Ash tells her that he ate too many apples earlier but she doesn’t believe him. She tastes it for herself and gets a disgusted look on her face.
Later that night, Ash and Misty decide to sleep outside so that Brock can get a better rest. They then begin to talk about how hard Brock works and that they should be more grateful to him. The two then fall asleep. A little bit later, Team Rocket is seen spying on them as they plan to steal all of their Pokémon. James and Meowth notice Jessie eating something. She shows them the pot of botched stew that Misty had made earlier. She claims that it is the most delicious thing she had ever tasted. Meowth and James decide to help themselves but are disgusted by the taste. Jessie doesn’t understand how they could not like it. Soon Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile are awakened by the sound of what they thought was Ash’s voice. They look over to a nearby bush and see a cardboard cut out of Ash which they believe to be the real thing. But Bulbasaur knows better and tries to stop the others from approaching it. However it is too late and all four end up caught in a net. Ash and Misty hear all the noise and wake up. Team Rocket then takes off with the four captured Pokémon. Ash and Misty pursue them and take the rest of the Pokémon with them.
Meanwhile, Brock is having yet another dream. This time of a beautiful ocean with a few Magikarp frolicking in it. Again, the same three girls call out his name. When he goes over to meet them, he is hit by a tidal wave and dragged out to sea. He is then awoken by Golbat and Pineco. Brock looks out the window and sees Ash and Misty running off with the Pokémon following. He automatically assumes it’s Team Rocket’s doing.
While chasing Team Rocket, Ash and Misty fall right into one of their pitfall traps. They then board their balloon, which has jet engines attached to it. Four claws come out and pick up Staryu, Poliwhirl, Onix, and Geodude. Now Pikachu is unable to shock them because it might hurt the other Pokémon. Pikachu is soon grabbed as well. When everything looks grim, Golbat suddenly appears and attacks their balloon with Wing Attack. It crashes and all the Pokémon are set free. Brock soon shows up looking much better than he did earlier. Jessie and James send out Arbok and Weezing, respectively. Brock tells Pineco and Golbat to team up and attack Arbok and Weezing. Then he tells Onix to uses Rock Throw. Pikachu soon finishes the job with Thunder and Team Rocket blasts off again.
The next morning, Ash and Misty wake up and notice a delicious aroma in the air. It’s none other than Brock’s cooking. They tell him that the oatmeal is delicious. Brock says that he feels way better and he wants to start work again today. But then Ash suggests that Brock take another day off to make sure that he doesn’t get sick again. He agrees and goes in the cabin. He dreams of the three beautiful girls again. But this time, he catches them.
Who’s That Pokémon?: Heracross (US and international), Pineco (Japan)
Dues and Don’ts (Japanese: ロケットだんとデリバード！ Rocket-dan and Delibird!) is the 231st episode of the Pokémon anime. It was first broadcast in Japan on January 10, 2002 and in the United States on January 25, 2003.
On the road to Mahogany Town, Ash, Misty, Brock, Togepi and Pikachu are attacked by Jessie, James, and Meowth. After a brief scuffle involving an exploding football, the Rocket Trio is sent blasting off as usual. After a painful landing, the Rockets discuss their most recent failure and try to figure out why they can never beat the “twerps”. They eventually reach the conclusion that the reason lies in the fact that the twerps have a large amount of Pokémon to battle them with, while they only have five, including Meowth. In order to increase their capabilities, the Rockets decide that their first goal should be to capture more Pokémon!
Their wish soon comes true when they find an apparently abandoned Delibird. A tape recording near the Delibird says that it was abandoned by its trainer, and is free to anybody able to catch it. Seizing their opportunity, Jessie and James battle with the Delibird. After a gruelling battle, they succeed in defeating it. However, before they can catch it, an old woman comes out of the woods and introduces herself as the Delibird’s trainer. She tells them that she’s a scout for Team Rocket and by defeating Delibird in battle, they’ve passed her test. They’re now eligible to join Team Rocket themselves!
Jessie and James explain to the woman that they’re already members of Team Rocket. When she refuses to believe them, they look up their names in Team Rocket’s member registry. Looking through it, they find that their worst fears have finally come true – they’ve been disbanded from Team Rocket! The Rocket Scout explains that their membership was revoked because of their unpaid dues and the constant loans they’ve taken out. But, she tells them, if they prove themselves to her, she should be able to get them reinstated, and get them a hefty signing bonus as well. Their mission? To defeat a wandering band of Pokémon Trainers, who turn out to be none other then the twerps! Jessie and James tell the scout, that although Ash and his friends look weak, they’re actually skilled trainers, and that with their current Pokémon they’ll be unable to beat them. After thinking for a moment, the Scout agrees to let them borrow their Delibird. With a new and powerful Pokémon on their side, Team Rocket gets ready to attack, sure of their coming victory.
Meanwhile Giovanni, the leader of Team Rocket receives a phone call from Wendy, a member of Team Rocket’s H.R. department. Wendy tells him where can i find fake pokemon Lizaur that Jessie and James are trying to get their membership back, and suggests that he refuse to let them rejoin. Giovanni tells her that he has no problem letting them rejoin, so long as they pay Team Rocket the money they owe. With that said he hangs up on Wendy, leaving her to fume back at her desk. In a flashback we see that Wendy has a long standing grudge against Jessie, from an incident where she left her with a bill for a fruit smoothie. Angry that she couldn’t get Jessie kicked out of the Team for good Wendy swears that she’ll eventually get her revenge.
Back in Johto Ash and his friends are met on the road by a pair of wandering Samurai. They quickly reveal themselves to be Jessie and James in disguise, and challenge the twerps to a battle. Expecting them to use their normal Pokémon Ash calls out his Phanpy. To his surprise Team Rocket bring out Delibird, who easily defeats Phanpy with its Blizzard attack. Using its Present ability, Delibird hits Ash and friends with a surprise attack. Angered Ash calls out Pikachu, but finds that Delibird’s Present is too much for Pikachu to handle. Ash tries to retreat, but no matter where him or his friends go Delibird is always there with another explosive present. Delighted at their success Jessie and James order Delibird to finish the twerps off, but to their surprise the next present restores Pikachu to full health. Taking control of the fight Ash orders Pikachu to attack, and Team Rocket finds itself “blasting off again”.
After landing, Jessie and James are met again by the Rocket Scout, who reclaims her Delibird. She tells them that even though they lost the fight, Team Rocket is suffering a severe labor shortage (due to most of its members getting arrested) and that she’s still going to register them again. The pair eagerly wait for their signing bonus, but find themselves hit with a bill instead, their bonus having helped pay all of the money they owe. At the bottom of the list is a surprise, a bill for a fruit smoothie courtesy of Wendy. The Scout tells them that every month Delibird will come to collect some of the money they owe, and that they should resume their work as Rockets.
Despite all of their bills, Jessie, where to catch Camopillar James, and Meowth take a moment to celebrate. Their cheers are so loud that even Ash and his friends hear it on the nearby road.
