Castform (Japanese: ポワルン Powalen) is a Normal-type Pokémon.

While it is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon, it has the ability to change forms depending on the current weather.

Castform is an artificial Pokémon created by the Weather Institute in Hoenn. It was designed to help scientists predict the weather, and consequently changes its appearance (and type) when the weather changes.

In its natural state, Castform is small, gray and resembles a cloud. When it is extremely sunny, Castform’s lower half becomes pure white while the head turns orange with smaller orange balls surrounding it. This gives Castform’s head a shape that is similar to the sun. During rain, Castform’s lower half becomes a darker shade of gray. The head is blue, resembling a drop of rain. In hail or snowy weather, Castform’s head turns purplish-blue. The rest of the body changes into a mint green cumulonimbus cloud that also appears to resemble a decorative ice sculpture. Castform does not have a form for sandstorms or fog.

In all forms, Castform has markings around its eyes similar to a pair of sunglasses.

Castform has the aforementioned ability to change its form with the weather (although it lacks forms for sandstorms, fog, and Shadow Sky). In normal weather, sandstorms, fog, and Shadow Sky, Castform is in its Normal-type Normal form; in sunny weather, it is in its Fire-type Sunny Form; in rain, it is in its Water-type Rainy Form; in hail, it is in its Ice-type Snowy Form.

Castform is capable of learning many Fire-, Water-, Ice- and Normal-type moves. Castform is one of the few Pokémon that can learn Weather Ball.

This Pokémon’s feelings change with the weather.

They usually live in grassland areas. Their Ability allows them to adapt to any habitat.

A Castform from the Weather Institute changed into various forms in Unfair Weather Friends.

A Castform appeared in the opening of Destiny Deoxys.

A Castform made an appearance in Clamperl of Wisdom as one of the random Pokémon Spoink used to replace its lost pearl.

A Castform appeared in Saved by the Beldum.

A Coordinator’s Castform appeared in its Sunny Form in Spontaneous Combusken!.

A Castform, nicknamed Popo, belongs to Ruby in Pokémon Adventures. Previously, she belonged to Mr. Stone, who was injured in an attack by Team Aqua. Popo was then given to Gabby and Ty to be cared for while he was being healed. She later decided to travel with Ruby when he began traveling with the reporters because she was lonely. Until he was reunited with Rara, Popo was Ruby’s Smart Contest Pokémon.

A Castform makes an appearance in Descent Of The Weather God!! of Pokémon Ruby-Sapphire. In that chapter, it showed http://www.monstermmorpg.com/Dress-Up-Who the ability of transforming into many forms depending on the current weather.

Castform was featured as one of the Pokémon released from a Poké Ball in the demo of Super Smash Bros. Brawl that appeared at Jumpfesta.

It appears to be intended to resemble and act like a living cloud. Its ability to change shape and type depending on the weather condition makes similar to a weather balloon. It’s also similar both in concept and design to a teru teru bozu, a Japanese charm doll used to wish for good weather. Its forms, especially their typing, may have originated from the English saying “Rain, Hail or Shine”.

Castform may be a combination of forecast (the prediction of weather) and transform or form (referring to its ability to change form depending on the weather). The German and French names reflect this.

Powalen may be a combination of ポワン powan (onomatopoeia of a sudden transformation, similar to “poof” in English) and 変わる kawaru (to change or transform).

An item (Japanese: どうぐ tool) is an object in the Pokémon games which the player can pick up, keep in their Bag, and use in some manner. They have various uses, including healing, powering up, helping one to catch Pokémon, or to access a new area.

Items are obtained in several different ways. They can be given to the player by characters within the game, be bought at a Poké Mart for money, or found by the player throughout the Pokémon world. The latter form of items are contained within item balls, spherical containers resembling a Poké Ball. To obtain the item, players move next to it and press A while facing it. In Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, many items are found in treasure chests modeled after Poké Balls; in addition, items are often found in bulk from these chests, rather than only singular. Another method introduced in Generation II is picking Berries off a Berry tree. Join Avenue was introduced in Pokémon Black and White 2, allowing players to buy certain items in bulk, as well as Berries and some rare items.

Finding items on the ground is not always as easy as seeing it and picking it up. Many items are hidden from view, and can only be obtained by a very lucky chance or, more commonly, through the use of an item finding tool. In Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, some hidden items are revealed by a momentary flash when a player enters a room. This is caused by the light reflecting off the hidden items. In Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, some hidden items can be found in visibly different tufts of grass. These are most commonly in Berry Forest, where Berries reoccur in these spots after a certain amount of time.

Recurring items on the ground are quite rare within the Pokémon series. Although multiple items can be bought at Poké Marts, finding items on the ground repeatedly in the same place is almost unheard of. Generation I had no known places where there were recurring items. Generation II introduced Apricorn trees and Berry trees, on which new Apricorns and Berries would grow every day; however, there were still no known places of reoccurring items on the ground.

Generation III continued the idea of the Berry tree in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald as well as introducing Shoal Salts and Shoal Shells. However, in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, the Berry tree was removed and replaced by recurring Berries hidden on the ground in Berry Forest. Berries may regenerate every 512 steps. Other areas of recurring items include Treasure Beach, south of One Island.

In Generation IV the main recurring item is the Reaper Cloth, Rare Bone, or Stardust found in Turnback Cave after defeating or catching Giratina in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. Furthermore in Generation IV, Honey will regenerate at the rate of two per day in Floaroma Meadow after the player has gathered them on the initial trip through. These may be found in any of the spots originally found, randomly generated.

In Generation V, TinyMushrooms will regrow, though they will remain invisible. Primarily, these are found on Route 6 and Route 12, but can also be found in Icirrus City in the winter. Additionally, a Pearl and Stardust will wash up on Route 13 or at Undella Town once per day. These may either both be found beside the Black Belt on Route 13 or on the very easternmost shore of Undella Town or one in each location. Another Pearl may be found periodically on Route 18 near the Battle Girl. It appears that the Lemonade found on the road on Route 9 will regenerate, but how often is unknown.
Outside of Pinwheel Forest, there is a Challenge Rock that invites Fighting-type Pokémon to smash it. Doing so will produce a Star Piece once per day. In B2W2 the same invitation stands, however, only a Stardust is produced.

In B2W2, the recurring items differ slightly, as do the Ninja Games locations.
A TinyMushroom may occasionally regrow in the fenced-in “garden” outside the Season Research Lab, and a BigMushroom may occasionally regrow in a patch of grass in the trees to the immediate south of the Mistralton Cave entrance. A TinyMushroom may occasionally regrow on Route 12 as well.
A Heart Scale may wash up on one of the shorelines of Undella Bay, once more near the Black Belt on Route 13, or next to the rock at the bottom of the staircase immediately east of Lacunosa Town. A Pearl may wash up on the beach between the two staircases in Undella Town (in front of the Sage). A Big Pearl may wash up on the small dune/path near the Treasure Hunter on Route 13, north of the Parasol Lady.
Some items (Prism Scales, Heart Scales, Pearls) may also wash up on Route 18 over time.

Many items gained monstermmorpg monster Luxcatty recurring status in Black 2 and White 2, as they are found in Hidden Grottos, which contents regenerate.

Certain items may be given to the player once per day by NPCs, often for fulfilling a certain task.
Starting with Ruby and Sapphire, some Non-player character|NPCs in Hoenn would give various Berries once per day when spoken to.
Starting with Pokémon Platinum, the manager of the Pokémon News Press will give the player three specialty Poké Balls plus one Heart Scale for showing him the Pokémon he’s requested for his expose. There is a man on Route 221 who will give a player a Black Belt, Expert Belt and Focus Sash, one per day in that order then repeating, for showing him a Pokémon of the requested level. An Ace Trainer immediately inside the Great Marsh gate will give the player one Shard per day at random when spoken to.

In all Generation V games, there is a woman in Driftveil City who will give the player a Heart Scale if she is shown a Pokémon knowing the requested move. There is a Fisherman in the “Hip Waders” club on the Village Bridge who will give the player Dive Balls once per day for showing him the requested Water-type Pokémon, with the caveat that it must have been caught NEW that day. In B2W2, there are two scientists in the Castelia Sewers that will give the player one healing item, randomly selected, per day if spoken to. The female, accessible in all seasons, will give the player either a Potion, Super Potion or Revive and the male scientist, accessible in Spring and Summer only, will give the player an Antidote, Full Heal or Full Restore.
In all Generation V games, a Parasol Lady outside of the Tubeline Bridge gate on Route 8 will give the player one Rock depending on the time of day; a Damp Rock in the morning, Heat Rock during the day, Smooth Rock in the evening and Icy Rock at night.
In all Generation V games, the player may take Aha’s Pep Quiz once per day in Icirrus City. If correct, the player receives an Antidote, if incorrect, a Parlyz Heal.
In B2W2, once per day the player may volunteer to walk the Socialite’s Mienfoo and will be rewarded with a Pearl for their troubles.

In all Generation V games, the player may receive a Soda Pop once per Wednesday by speaking to the Waitress inside the door of the Nacrene City Cafe.
In Black and White, a businessman in Lacunosa Town will give the player one of a selection of Berries on Sunday night. This changes to Monday and Thursday nights in B2W2.

In some indoor areas, item balls may in fact turn out to be Voltorb or Electrode, in which case interacting with them will instead initiate a battle with said Pokémon. In Generation V, within forested areas, item balls may be Foongus or Amoonguss.

Throughout the Pokémon world, the Bag is used to carry items. Since Generation II, Items have been separated into categories to help with overall organization. These categories are altered slightly with each game. Some of the common categories consist of:

The preceding basic classification holds mostly true for Generations II and III. However, in Generation IV, items have been arranged into further categories. New categories include Medicine, Battle Items, and Mail. Generation I did not have any form of categories in the Bag (as it held a very limited number of items), though the categories can still apply.

Items that are obtained are stored in different places. Initially, when an item is obtained, it is placed in the player’s Bag, and from Generation II onwards, into a specific pocket of that Bag. When a section of the Bag becomes full, players will not be able to pick up any other items of that type. To make space, players must store their items within their PC, accessed at a Pokémon Center as <Player>’s PC. In Generation IV, this problem is eliminated by having no limit on items in the Bag, and the player’s PC is used for other purposes. The player also has the ability to toss items away: this will delete them from the Bag. Key items, HMs, and, in Generation V, TMs cannot be tossed.

Since Generation II, certain items have been able to be held by Pokémon to heal or to enhance their power. Healing items can be used in battle without taking up a turn, but must be natural for them to work. Artificial items such as Potions and Full Heals cannot be used by Pokémon during battle. Held items also have other uses, such as an aid to evolve during trading or battle. Mail was also introduced as a hold item, in which players could send customizable messages with their Pokémon upon trading.

The Beginning of the Adventure! (Japanese: 冒険のはじまり! The Beginning of the Adventure!) is the first chapter of the Pokémon RéBURST manga.

The chapter opens up to a brief explanation to what Pokémon are and how they and humans have been living together for a long time until suddenly, a dark cloud appears in the sky.

In the Village of Protecting Time, a young man named Ryouga stretching to prepare for an upcoming test. He tells someone named Arcades to wait for him and dashes off to do his test. After leaving, Ryouga’s grandparents explain the rules of their test, the Ceremonial Trial, and that once Ryouga passes, he can leave the village and fulfill his promise to Arcades.

The scene changes into a flashback and a young Ryouga is seen chasing a light in the sky known as Arcades. Arcades tells the boy that it is impossible for him to take Ryouga to where he is going but Ryouga denies this after each explanation. Shocked that Ryouga would oppose him like his father once did, Arcades tells Ryouga that he must become strong so that he will take him to where Ryouga’s father is.

Back in the present, a young woman named Miruto is seen lying next to a boulder while caressing her wounded leg. As she mutters to herself about how she will not be able to face her superior, Jake, Miruto is suddenly shocked by the sight of an unknown creature. Thinking it’s a Pokémon, Miruto readies a Poké Ball only for it to turn out to be Ryouga carrying a large boulder. After explaining her situation to Ryouga, Miruto denies his offer to take her back to his village for treatment by stating it is impossible. Hearing the word “impossible” causes Ryouga to state that word is not in his dictionary, toss Miruto on top of the boulder, and rush back to his village.

Back at the village, Ryouga’s grandparents talk to the instructor of the Ceremonial Trial and are shocked to find out that his current score is very low. Just as they worry that their grandchild may not pass the test, Ryouga arrives with the boulder and Miruto on top of it. With the boulder Ryouga brought in, he gains more than enough points to pass the trial.

After introducing herself, Miruto gets bandaged up by Ryouga’s mother, Haruna and gets an explanation on Ryouga’s reactions to the words “impossible” or “no good”. Later, Ryouga comes out of his house and receives a box that belonged to his father from his grandfather. Haruna insists that it’s too early for Ryouga to leave and runs inside when Miruto explains how leaving home is common for people Ryouga’s age.

As they go their separate ways, Miruto tells Ryouga to avoid Madoro City only to be ignored while Ryouga goes there anyway. Outside the village, Ryouga calls out to his mother, who is currently in tears, and promises to her that he will return safely, calming her down.

At Madoro City, a group of men with the insignia “GG” on their chests are seen abusing the townspeople and firing their weapons at buildings. A young girl http://www.monstermmorpg.com/Maps-Training-Cave-F3 chases a truck demanding that the group gives her back her “Tekkun” until one member attacks her in retaliation. The girl is saved by Ryouga, who knocks the man out with a kick to the face and takes another one with an elbow to the stomach. Having saved the girl, Ryouga goes to save her Lillipup named Tekkun from the mysterious group. Miruto arrives in Madoro City to see find the piles of bodies Ryouga left all over the ground.

The scene shifts to Ryouga still attacking the villains only to be sent flying by a man wielding a large spiked ararebo. The man is Commander Yaza who berates his subordinates for not being able to defeat Ryouga. To Yaza’s shock, Ryouga emerges from the rubble relativity unharmed. Yaza decides to use a special weapon and connects a cable to his backpack that steals the life force of several captured Fire-type Pokémon to set his ararebo on fire. With the increased power of his weapon, Yaza easily overpowers Ryouga and proceeds to finish him off.

Just before Ryouga is killed, he is saved at the last minute by Miruto with the use of a smoke screen. After escaping from Yaza, Ryouga is berated play with fake pokemon Chompup by Miruto for ignoring her orders and tells him to go back home. Ryouga tells her that he intends to stop people who use Pokémon for wrongdoings like his father once did.

Suddenly Yaza calls out to Ryouga and threatens to burn the young girl he saved before to a crisp unless he comes out from hiding. Despite Miruto’s protests, Ryouga goes out and remembers the promise he made to Arcades. Ryouga asks Arcades to watch him as goes up to Yaza and opens the box that his grandfather gave him. Inside the box is a small jewel instead of a Poké Ball like Miruto had theorized earlier. Ryouga puts the jewel onto his left hand and it begins to painfully transform his body.

Back at the Village of Protecting Time, Ryouga’s grandparents and Haruna witness a giant beam of light shooting from Madoro City. Haruna realizes that Ryouga has become Zekrom as the scene shifts to Ryouga wearing a costume resembling the Pokémon. Yaza, shocked that Ryouga can use the technique known as Burst, demands him to not move or else he will kill the girl. Ryouga complies and Yaza proceeds to attack him, only for his weapon to break upon contact with Ryouga’s body.

Having done what Yaza asked, Ryouga proceeds to attack him with an electrically-charged punch and sends him flying into a building, knocking Yaza out in the process. The little girl cries out of fear and runs into Miruto’s arms while Miruto thinks to herself that Ryouga’s new form resembles the legendary Pokémon Zekrom. Ryouga lets out a roar and tells Arcades that he has finally become strong.

Misty’s Starmie (Japanese: カスミのスターミー Kasumi’s Starmie) was one of the three original Pokémon acquired by Misty in the Kanto region.

Misty rarely used Starmie in battle, generally favoring Staryu to battle on land (and often Psyduck by mistake). It seems to be fairly powerful though, as it was able to carry Misty through a long Pokémon race using a combination of swimming and hovering. Despite being genderless, when called into battle it would utter a feminine ‘Hoh’ cry. Like its pre-evolution, Starmie’s core would also flicker with a dull ‘bing’ sound when it was tired. Starmie was typically used in more of an instrumental capacity than its pre-evolved counterpart, akin to the in-game term HM slave, being used to traverse water on many occasions.

Starmie made its debut in Misty’s Gym battle against Ash, in The Water Flowers of Cerulean City. Misty had successfully beaten Butterfree with Staryu, and Starmie was called out against the higher level Pidgeotto, suggesting that at this time Starmie was more powerful than Staryu. It dived underwater to dodge Pidgeotto’s Whirlwind, and shot up into the air to land a Tackle. However, its second tackle was deflected by Wing Attack, and then it was blown into the Gym wall by a Gust attack, on the brink of losing before Team Rocket intervened. The battle was called off and Ash was given the Badge regardless.

In The School of Hard Knocks, Misty was incensed by Joe’s insistence that he could easily defeat her Water Pokémon as he had done it countless times on the simulator, including once right in front of her. She promptly challenged him to a real battle, and sent out Starmie to fight his Weepinbell, most likely because Starmie had been so easily beaten in the simulation. Starmie used a single Water Gun and knocked out Weepinbell, leading to Joe’s ridicule by Giselle. However, Misty then challenged Giselle, calling her out for not being a true friend. Giselle’s Graveler proved to be a very powerful opponent, deflecting Water Gun by spinning and then smashing into Starmie, shattering the center gem and knocking it through the window and into the pool. It is one of the two instances a Starmie’s core has been seen shattering, the other being owned by a young Trainer on the St. Anne. Starmie’s regenerative abilities were also demonstrated, as by the next time it was seen, its central core was repaired.

Starmie was sent out to battle a wild Oddish in Bulbasaur and the Hidden Village. It successfully weakened Oddish with Water Gun and Tackle, but was knocked out in one Tackle from the Bulbasaur that came to its defense. It later helped to rescue the trio from the sinking St. Anne in Pokémon Shipwreck, carrying Brock from the ship, and later towing the group’s raft out of the range of James’ raging Gyarados. In Tentacool & Tentacruel, it rescued the sailors that had been attacked.

It appeared to have an Ability similar to Water Absorb, even though Abilities did not exist when Misty was a main character. This was demonstrated when, in Bye Bye Butterfree!, Starmie chased Team Rocket away with a Tackle, but was knocked out when Jessie smashed it with a hammer. However it seemed to regain its health when Misty jetted water on it. In Pokémon Scent-sation!, it helped Staryu and Squirtle put out http://www.monstermmorpg.com/Aichent-Monster-Dex-318 the fire at Celadon Gym with Water Gun.

Starmie paired with Misty in The Flame Pokémon-athon!. It made the final four as it was able to Surf across the river, allowing it to reach the top four. However, like everyone else, it was sabotaged by Team Rocket and blinded by Weezing, taking it out long enough to allow Dario, the man who had encouraged Team Rocket, to make a break for the finish.

Starmie was also one of Misty’s Pokémon to be stolen by Keith in So Near, Yet So Farfetch’d, along with her Staryu, Goldeen, Horsea, and Psyduck (but Psyduck escaped later). It was later one of the Pokémon he offered to Jessie and James along with Staryu. However, the Poké Balls supposedly containing them turned out to not exist, instead containing stones with Bii-da faces.

Misty attempted to round off her team of four in Princess vs. Princess with Starmie, but Psyduck popped out when it came to the actual battle. This happened quite commonly with Starmie and Psyduck.

In The Misty Mermaid, Horsea was feeling sick due to lack of exercise, so Misty dropped it off at the Cerulean Gym so it could spend its time swimming in the aquariums there. Misty left Starmie there with it, because her sisters wanted to borrow it. Misty later reclaimed it when she became Gym Leader of Cerulean.

It reappeared briefly in Cerulean Blues along with Horsea, being reunited with Misty. Both were quickly scared off, however, by Gyarados. It appeared briefly again in A Date with Delcatty when Misty was feeding the Pokémon.

As Starmie wasn’t given very much onscreen appearences, it has very little personality. When in battle, it has been shown to be quite obedient and how to catch Brightrick loyal to Misty. Starmie has been known to sometimes droop and bend its points when in pain or disappointment.

Starmie is the most regular Pokémon to appear on Misty’s teams, making where can i find monster Romachlis an appearance on all of them to date, as her signature Pokémon.

Misty used her Starmie in The Electric Tale of Pikachu chapter Pikachu’s Excellent Adventure to rehydrate Ash after he had cried too much for losing his Pikachu. It was also used to battle against Team Rocket in the next chapter.

Starmie appeared under the control of Misty in a Gym challenge against Red in Suddenly Starmie, the challenge didn’t last long, however, as Starmie easily defeated Bulbasaur after a failed Vine Whip did little damage. However, she stated it wasn’t strong enough in Mt. Moon to battle Koga’s Rhydon, in a way mirroring its anime counterpart in The School of Hard Knocks. The battle between Bulbasaur and Starmie was merely a demonstration for Misty to show how ill-prepared Red was for facing the dangers that undoubtedly awaited them. She ended up giving him the Cascade Badge after a few days of training together.

Misty sometimes uses this Starmie to float around, as shown in You Know… Articuno!, after she traded her Gyarados away to Red for him to surf with. It also has other powers, such as using the jewel on its center to inscribe mysterious, ancient characters for people to read with. This especially came in handy during the Kanto Elite Four invasion, and later when Suicune wanted to join her to fight against the Masked Man.

Starmie was later seen defeating Whitney’s Miltank in the Gym Leaders’ exhibition match. It was last seen fighting against mind-controlled Team Rocket Grunts.

This listing is of cards mentioning or featuring Misty’s Starmie in the Pokémon Trading Card Game.

For more information on this Pokémon’s species, see Starmie.
