Jynx (Japanese: ルージュラ Rougela) is a dual-type Ice/Psychic Pokémon.
She evolves from Smoochum starting at level 30.
Jynx is a humanoid Pokémon that resembles a bulky woman. Jynx wears a red gown that hides her feet, has white arms and purple hands. Jynx has a purple face, pink lips, saucer-like eyes, and long blonde hair. She seems to resemble a Nordic princess, as seen in various operas. Originally, her face was colored black, causing a controversy.

A Jynx under the ownership of the Pokémon Showboat stage show staff appeared in Stage Fight!.
A Nurse Joy in EP250 owned a Jynx, rather than a Chansey. In this banned episode, Brock almost kissed this Human Shape Pokémon during his sickly state.

Jynx’s most notable role is being under the ownership of Lorelei in Pokémon Adventures. Lorelei’s Jynx is noted for having the ability to generate voodoo dolls out of ice using its Ice Beam. When Lorelei draws crosses on any part of the dolls using her lipstick, ice shackles form on the specified body parts of her targets, eventually freezing the victim over completely. Even after the victims are broken free, the freeze induces lasting numbness in the areas where it was applied. Both Red and Sabrina suffered this condition and had to seek a cure atop Mt. Silver by bathing in the hotsprings there.
Another ability of Lorelei’s Jynx is revealed in the Sevii Islands saga: she can create a wispy band of ice around targets, which Lorelei can use to track them down using her powder case.
A Jynx also made an appearance in The Jynx Jinx under the ownership of Ken.

Jynx originally bore a striking, but possibly coincidental, resemblance to entertainers in blackface. It is argued that Jynx may instead be a parody of or homage to the Japanese Ganguro and Yamanba fashion trends, which were extremely popular when Pokémon was first released; however, blackface-influenced characters have appeared in other anime and manga such as Dragon Ball’s Mr. Popo and in Metropolis.
As Pokémon became more popular in the US, this perceived similarity to a racist image from America’s past offended some. In particular, it had offended children’s book author Carole Boston Weatherford, who accused Jynx of being a racist stereotype in an article titled “Politically Incorrect Pokémon” in the magazine Black World Today, shortly after the anime episode Holiday Hi-Jynx aired. Episodes that contained Jynx in its original design were left unaired outside of Japan, including EP250 and portions of All Things Bright and Beautifly, with the exceptions of Stage Fight!, The Mandarin Island Miss Match, and the Who’s That Pokémon? segment of It’s Mr. Mime Time.
In response to this controversy, Nintendo changed the color of Jynx’s dark blue hands and its black face to purple in Pokémon games, including in the international versions of Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal. In addition to this, Jynx’s facial expression in her Silver sprites were also changed, as was her hair color in both her normal and Shiny forms. Jynx has appeared since using her new design, with the exception of some side-games, with no problems. The Virtual Console version of Pokémon Snap recolors Jynx’s face.
What Jynx is based on is a controversial topic within the fandom, although common interpretations are a Nordic or a Viking woman (possibly Hel, goddess of the underworld), or ガングロ ganguro, face-black. Also, the fact that Jynx are depicted as Santa’s helpers in the anime can possibly mean that Jynx is based on Zwarte Piet. Jynx also has the traits of a female opera singer, especially the iconic cartoon depiction of the fat lady; it should also be noted that in Pokémon Snap and the third generation sprites depict her singing, especially the Emerald sprite that animates her singing a high note. Jynx may also have origins in the Japanese spirits known as Yuki-onna, who lack feet, akin to Jynx’s feet being covered by her dress, and Yama Uba, which is described as always wearing a tattered red kimono, having whitish-blonde hair, control over snow, dark-colored skin, and large lips, traits which are evident in Jynx.
Her revised coloring may be based on purple discoloration of the skin, a common symptom of frostbite. This fits with Jynx’s Ice typing, and how it is found in very cold places.
Jynx is a corruption of Dres Up Games jinx, a curse or hex of bad luck.
Rougela may be a feminized corruption of rouge, a type of makeup. It is also French for red.
Dustox (Japanese: ドクケイル Dokucale) is a dual-type Bug/Poison Pokémon.
It evolves from Cascoon starting at level 10. It is one of Wurmple’s final forms, the other being Beautifly.
Dustox is a moth-like Pokémon with vaguely egg-shaped purple bodies and usually green wings. These wings have red circles and streaks on them and appear tattered. It has yellow antennae, and yellow eyes that resemble stylized compound eyes. Dustox’s legs are stubby and red in coloration, and Dustox has a jagged fringe on its rear.
A female has smaller antennae than a male.
Dustox’s antennae are often used to seek out food, and its wings contain a highly poisonous dust. Despite its typing and lack of the Ability Levitate it can fly quite easily.
Dustox is nocturnal, and is instinctively drawn to light. Swarms of Dustox are attracted by the bright light of cities, where they wreak havoc by stripping the leaves off roadside trees for food. If attacked as a Cascoon, a Dustox will always remember the face of the attacker, and will seek revenge upon evolution.
Dustox live in forests, much like its pre-evolutions, Wurmple and Cascoon.
Jessie’s Cascoon evolved into Dustox in Seeing is Believing. It was her primary Contest Pokémon and was also known to be able to hold down a good battle. Dustox won Jessie her first Ribbon in Team Shocker! at the Solaceon Town Contest.

Dome Ace Tucker (Japanese: ドームスーパースター ヒース Dome Superstar Heath) is the Frontier Brain and commissioner of the Battle Frontier’s Battle Dome. He is the only character in the games to have the Trainer class Dome Ace (Japanese: ドームスーパースター Dome Superstar).
Tucker is a superstar and enjoys the sound of a crowd chanting his name. He prefaces battles with narcissistic comments, and if he loses, turns over the Tactics Symbol to the Trainer’s Frontier Pass.
Tucker’s only anime monster Geenee appearance was in the episode Tactics Theatrics!!.
In the anime, Tucker is a big superstar. He likes to entertain others, and he has many fans. Automatically before the battle, he allows challengers to send in their Pokémon from other locations. Tucker used his Arcanine and Swampert in a Double Battle against Ash. The battle took place in the Battle Dome in front of a large audience. Tucker was defeated by Ash, although he held a strong start for a while with his Pokémon’s teamwork and strategy.

At the beginning of the Battle Frontier saga, Tucker was assaulted by Emerald while riding to the Battle Frontier Opening Ceremony on his Salamence. Tucker was promptly tied up and thrown backstage during the opening ceremony, where he is found by the other Brains after Emerald bumps into them, thinking that Scott was a desk attendant. They untie him and he starts yelling at Emerald, on stage. Scott tells him to be quiet, and Tucker grows a flaming grudge against Emerald. Tucker bears witness to Emerald’s victory over Noland, and immediately tries to make the boy come to his facility. However, the Battle Dome is actually Emerald’s fifth challenge, and the only one he lost.
Unlike the games, Tucker actually takes part in the tournaments rather than just challenging a Trainer after winning a set number of tournaments. He also says that in accordance with tournament rules, the winner of the tournament, whether it be him, Emerald, or someone else, will receive the Symbol. However, he also adds that he won’t lose, and is the only Brain to be able to defeat Emerald, if only because he switched out his entire party.
Salamence’s known moves are Flamethrower and Fire Blast, and its Ability is Intimidate.
Charizard’s known moves are Flamethrower, Earthquake and Overheat.
Tucker makes an appearance in Introducing the Frontier Brains! where he introduces himself and his two Pokémon (while admiring them) to Enta. He battles Enta in a Double Battle. He was able to defeat Enta’s Vulpix but lost to his Feebas after it activated Swift Swim when Enta’s Vulpix blew a hole in the roof with Flamethrower earlier. Tucker then tells Enta that his Feebas wouldn’t have stood a chance against his Pokémon due to it being ugly. After the battle, Feebas evolves into Milotic, proving Tucker wrong.
Swampert’s only known move is Water Gun.
Salamence’s only known move is Rock Slide.

Cheating is a frequently used method of playing the Pokémon games. It can be used to duplicate rare and valuable items and to obtain certain legendary Pokémon which would not be available until a Nintendo event otherwise.
Some players will use devices such as Action Replay to affect the execution of the game and easily obtain things they would otherwise need to work for. With cheating devices, players can simply alter the game’s code to give them many other valuable Pokémon, making the hunt for shiny Volcanic Ruins Pokémon and those with optimal IVs and Natures incredibly easy.
Cheating devices are commonly used to get Pokémon or items which are otherwise only obtainable through a Nintendo promotional events, if at all. Commonly, in Generation II and III, this means using the device to gain a special item to catch a Pokémon, such as the GS Ball or Old Sea Map.
A cheat that may be considered one of the most useful, the “Wild Pokémon Modifier” code is used to make any Pokémon of choice appear in any location, play with fake pokemon Boarowisp readily available for capture to build a collection of an unlimited amount of desired Pokémon easily with little to no negative effects to the save file. The wild Pokémon modifier code can also be used to make Pokéstar Studios opponents appear in Pokémon Black and White Versions 2, although as the game will attempt to bring up a nonexistent Pokédex entry upon capture, the game will freeze.
An updated version of the modifier allows the player to set level and Nature. The cheat also makes EV-training much easier, by allowing Pokémon that give those EVs to be readily available.
In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, a code which has been come to be known as the “walk anywhere code” allows cheaters access to any remote location by simply walking from one map location to another, sometimes passing through the Mystery Zone. This code also enables users to catch the Pokémon Shaymin and Darkrai.
Using the downloadable program, Pokésav, in conjunction with an Action Replay DS or ROM cartridges such as the R4, allows one to literally make their own Pokémon from scratch.
However, not all players Free Mario Games will use cheating devices to make the game easier. In some cases, cheating devices can be used to make the game harder, such as the case where a player would use a code to trigger a battle with Professor Oak.
The primary complaint against cheating methods is that it takes no particular ability to exploit a glitch or enter a cheat code, and thus detracts from the point and spirit of the game, making it less enjoyable. While this is a subjective matter, it is the primary cause of cheating offending most players.
Another more practical argument against cheating is that glitches and cheat codes often hurt the stability of the game. Many players have lost their Pokémon or save files while trying to exploit their game. On occasion, entire parties of Pokémon have been overwritten because of a destabilized glitch.
Some will justify using cheating devices to get Pokémon when they cannot attend Nintendo promotional events, the only legitimate way to obtain some Pokémon. It can also be at times the only way to acquire a certain item, such as the Lock Capsule, which in Pokémon Black and White contains TM95, Snarl. It is a matter of opinion whether or not this is a valid excuse for cheating.
To combat cheating, Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen have two measures to prevent cheating. Firstly, Mew and Deoxys were given special programming that prevents them from obeying the player if they were obtained illegitimately. However, this countermeasure fails if the player uses cheats to get to Faraway Island or Birth Island, and then catches the Pokémon in a somewhat legitimate manner. The countermeasure is negated if the Pokémon is caught in FireRed or LeafGreen and is then transferred to a Generation IV game. Secondly, special programming called DMA (dynamic memory allocation) is used in Generation III, and causes the data targeted by cheating devices to dynamically move around. However, this can be avoided by using codes to disable the DMA.
